We are running a range of activities as part of the Exmoor Dark Skies Festival; including camping, guided night walks, glow stick night swims and more.

Weekend of Adventure
Come for a weekend full of activities at Westermill Farm, Exford. Turn up to ready pitched tents with door mat, boot bucket, inflatable roll mats and camping chairs all ready for you to get comfy and sleep under the stars. Once you’re all settled come and explore the local area on one of our Guided Night Walks leaving from the Westermill site at 7pm on both Friday 20th and Saturday 21st.

The Guided Night Walks will run from 7 pm – 9.30 pm and will be approximately 6km. At dusk, your leader will take you to an area where there is the potential to see red deer rutting (fingers crossed). On the night walk, you will learn about the local area, wildlife and more about Exmoor and the National Park. Your leader will also look at basic night navigation and walking at night skills. If the sky is clear then you will also have the opportunity to look at the main constellations with some resources.

For some added adventure on Saturday morning 2.5 hour Target Sports session which will include Archery and Axe Throwing. All of these activities and events can be booked individually and are open to non-campers.

Something a little different…
We are running two glow stick night swim evenings. The first will be on Friday 20th October at Minehead with the second on Wednesday 25th at Pinkery Pond. Both of these night swims will start at 6pm and the differing location will lead to each night being unique. The price includes experienced instructor, wetsuit hire, tow float and a Channel Adventure swim hat to wear on the night and to take away with you. Simply come with goggles, swimwear, shoes that you can walk to the venue in and a towel.

We have been granted special access by Exmoor National Park Authority to swim in Pinkery Pond on Wednesday 25th, as CareMoor partners we wanted to promote the beauty and fragility of the National Park. It is a privileged to be able to run this swim at Pinkery Pond as part of the Dark Skies Festival and it will be a unique event with hopefully spectacular scenes as Pinkery is in the core zone of the Dark Sky Reserve.

Why not turn your night swim on 25th into a stay and take advantage of being able to stay the Pinkery Centre between Monday 23rd – Thursday 26th. The Pinkery Centre is owned and run by Exmoor National Park Authority and provides a unique residential experience right in the heart of Exmoor and in the core zone of the Dark Sky Reserve.
